Build the pre-flop range around nut access, not just hand appearance.
PLO ranges become stronger when the hand list is filtered by who can make the
best made hand or best draw on the most boards, and by whether the line still
works after a pot-size response. That means position, stack depth, and rake all
matter before you choose to 3-bet, flat, or fold.
Hand class
Favor nut-heavy structures over loose connectivity
Double-suited broadway rundowns, high-card wraps, and premium pair-plus-redraw
shapes are valuable because they keep more nut outcomes available across board
textures. Hands that only make second-best holdings too often should not enter
the same frequency bucket.
Stack depth
Separate shallow, medium, and deep plans
At shallow SPR, value hands can accept forced pot growth. At medium SPR, the
best range keeps initiative and position. At deep SPR, hands need redraws and
blocker quality because one-pair value loses utility fast.
Pot-limit cap
Let the legal maximum inform the entire hand tree
If a flop pot bet creates a turn where you can no longer realize equity or
represent value credibly, the flop bet was too large. In PLO, the cap is a
constraint that should shape the line, not just the size.

advantage and the opponent's redraw space is narrow.
Use these spots as templates. The exact combo matters less than the way the stack
depth changes the value of immediate pressure versus deferred pressure.
Street planning
Plan turn leverage before you choose the flop size.
In advanced PLO, every bet should answer a future question: do I want the turn
to be a value card, a slowdown card, or a barrel card? If you cannot answer that
before putting chips in, the sizing is probably doing too much of the work.
Flop selection
Pot when your range contains the strongest nut density and your blockers reduce the opponent's best continue.
Use smaller sizing when you want to protect against turning the hand into a one-street value shove.
Check more often when your equity comes from disguised improvement and you are not ahead of the caller's continue range.
Build around exact board class: paired boards, connected boards, and two-tone boards all ask for different frequencies.
Turn and river leverage
Barrel cards that improve your nut share or strip away the opponent's strongest redraws.
Reduce aggression on turns that widen the caller's wrap density or pair the board in a way that improves their showdown value.
On the river, polarize only when the range distribution is clean enough that worse hands continue and better hands fold at the right rate.
Bluff with blockers that remove the nut continue, not with hands that simply look aggressive.
